In an effort to help those Wheatons who have hit a brick wall, and need help determining what family they belong to and to confirm the Wheaton & Wheadon relationship to Devon, England Wheatons / Wheadons and sort through the Wheatons in Canada, Australia, US and all oarts of the UK I have begun a DNA Project.
More info at my website: Wheaton Surname Resources https://sites.google.com/site/wheatonsurname/home.
I am looking for Wheaton surnamed males who are willing to participate in DNA testing which may unravel the origins of the Wheaton and Wheadons more definitively. Some of you may have already been tested and I am hoping that you will be willing to share your results. I have done some preliminary looking at Wheaton DNA results on Ancestry.com, FTDNA and elsewhere and I have currently identified at least three distinct lines: 2 Wheaton and 1 Wheadon (which became Wheaton) and some other DNA signatures not yet connected with a Patriarch. Women can participate by having a brother, father or paternal grandfather tested.
This a surname specific genetic genealogical Project. We use Y-STR (Paternal) markers to identify Wheaton Famlies by Patriarchal ancestors for the surnames Wheaton, Wheeton, Whetene, Wheaten, Weeton, Weaton, Wheadon, Whedon, Wheedon, Wheden, Wheaden, Weedon, Weadon or variations. There are no geographic limitations on participation.
