I am not related, but am following your John Wesley Wheeling.I am trying to track all the soldiers, whose names are inscribed on a Civil War monument in Henderson Co., IL.There are over 200 names of soldiers who lost their lives while serving - all from Henderson Co. at some point in their young lives.
I am interested in any other information you'd like to share about this soldier.I have found no date for his death.Do you think he actually survived the war - even though he is listed among those who died?
Here are the very brief records for John W. (Wesley). These are available online (for Illinois soldiers)
