I just read your posting of September 4, 1998.
We are in the same family. My great grandmother is Mary Selina Whisenant, daughter of John Thompson Whisenant.Mary Selina married Chapple C. Crumley.Mary Selina and Chapple were parents of my grandfather, Smith Columbus Crumley, who married Alta Iola Saunders, daughter of Lish Saunders.
Here's what I have on John Thompson Whisenant and most of it came from the book, "The History of Driftwood", written by Minnie Lea Rogers, published 1970.
In the late 1870s, John Tom Whisenant headed up a wagon train coming from Georgia, destination Austin, Texas.Members of the wagon train included his wife, Carolina, sons, daughters, their spouses and children.I show their children listed as: John N., Mary Selina, Elizabeth, Nancy, William R. C. Deallia, Henry Crawford, Georgia McVail, Willborn, Jacob.
Here's what I have on John N. Whisenant:
He was born 8/6/1845, and married Elizabeth Magness. He is the brother of my ggrandmother, Mary Selina Whisenant Crumley.John and Elizabeth's children:
Nannie, Bessie, Clara, H.C. (called Boss), Ben, Sylvester, JOHN T., Ernest (Ern), and Virgel (Virge).Ernest Whisenant, called Ern, married Annie Saunders, daughter of LISH SAUNDERS, and they had five children; Joe, Effie, Steve, K.C. and Mamie.
Lish Saunders is the father of my grandmother, Alta Iola Saunders Crumley.
