James Newman Hoyt was born in 1827 in Locke, Cayuga Co., New York to Isaac Hoyt and Rebecca Newman.He married Elvira Peck 27 Aug 1851 in Fall River, Columbia Co., Wi.
Elvira Peck was d/o John Peck of Meadsville, Halifax co., Virginia and was born there in 1830.
Children of James N. Hoyt and Elvira Peck:
Rebecca Jane b. 9 Aug 1852, Fall River, Wi.
Hiram M. b. 9 Jan 1854, Fall River, Wi.
Correna Sedate b. 14 Oct 1855, Fall River, Wi. d. 5 Apr 1942 Los Angeles, CA; m. Joshua Whitcher 3 Jan 1877 in Deadwood, SD.
Frances Elizabeth b. 6 Jul 1857, Fall River, Wi.
James Newman b. 8 Mar 1859, Cleveland, Le Seuer Co. Mn.
Mary A. 22 Aug 1861, Cleveland, Mn.
James N. Hoyt joined the 7th Minnesota Infantry on 19 Aug 1862 and died of smallpox at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo. on 28 Dec 1863.
Elvira Peck Hoyt died in Whitewood Valley, Lawrence co., SD in July 1901.
