Since:
1. Lucy (Lilly) White claimed to have been born in NC in both the 1850 and 1860 censuses.
2. I now know that her asserted parents William and Lucy (Bybee) Lilly moved from Fluvanna Co., VA to Clark and Estill Cos., KY, prior to her alleged marriage to Joseph White, I am even more skeptical.
According to the memorial marker on her grave she was born 21 October 1800.
Now since John Lilly and his wife Eleanor Dumas were supposed to have had a daughter named Lucy, born 16 September 1800, why should I not be suspicious that it was John & Eleanor's daughter who married Joseph White? The birthdate of Lucy Lilly, daughter of John, is claimed to have come from a family Bible, now lost (so only unverifiable transcripts are available).John Lilly was the son of Reverend Edmund Lilly of Montgomery County and lived in Montgomery County until his death.
16 Sep 1800 vs 21 Oct 1800?But at least John's daughter, Lucy, was born in NC, and lived not very far from the White family (as opposed to far-off Fluvanna Co., VA, or Clark Co., KY).
