There are several posts on this forum from 5 or 6 years ago regarding the origins of Thomas White and identities of his children.I descend from Thomas' youngest daughter Elizabeth White who married Jonathan Pryor and settled in Graves County, Kentucky.
Thomas White's 1805 will (once lost in the Logan County Courthouse but a transcription has been posted on this forum) names his children as John, Andrew, Thomas, Richard, James, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth.John and my Elizabeth White Pryor are fairly well documented, but there has been little proven information for the other children.
I have recently found that a family with 3 siblings who have done the autosomal DNA test match my two first cousins and myself. These individuals list their ancestor as a Thomas White, born circa 1770 in Delaware per the 1850 and 1860 census.Thomas White died in Hardin County TN in 1869 but is recorded living in Warren County KY in 1800 tax records and in 1801 was married there to one Martha Enix.Warren County joins Logan County where Thomas White (Sr) lived from at least 1800 until his death in 1806.
Several of Thomas White Sr's children were recorded living in Warren County at that same time. The 1800 tax lists of Warren County record John, Thomas, Richard, and James White with Thomas Sr. recorded in neighboring Logan County.A Richard White who appears to be the same individual settled in Bond County, Illinois by 1820.In the 1850 census, that Richard White, born circa 1772, gives his birthplace as Delaware.
I am curious as to whether any other descendants of Thomas White have participated in any of the available autosomal DNA projects and found connections to other White descendants. If anyone else has found interesting matches, I would love to share information and GedMatch kit numbers to compare our DNA.
Since this forum is soon to make changes that will not allow new posts, I would also like to share the documented children of Elizabeth White Pryor. The internet is filled with incorrect information for the family of Elizabeth White and Jonathan Pryor based upon some community histories written 20-30 years ago.The following are the documented children which can be proven based upon ages & sex from pre 1850 census and the extant records of Graves County:
