The source I used was "Grandfather of us All" by Rebecca W. Sanders.Since posting this information I've found several inconsistencies in the book. From discussions with other researchers it appears that more documentation is needed to determine the exact lines in this family. It is further complicated my the reuse of given names throughout the family. At present I'm only aware of three Simon Whitehursts.....
Simon Whitehurst, son of Richard Whitehurst and Margaret Nichols.I don't have documentation to prove this. There is a Simon Whitehurst who appears in Lower NorfolkCounty as early as 1740 when he witnesses a Deed and the next year is Executor of John Smyth's Estate.
Simon Whitehurst, son of Batson Whitehurst Sr. and grandson of above Simon Whitehurst.I have no documentation on this man.
Simon Whitehurst (1753-1848) who was a Revolutionary War Soldier.I believe he has a pension file.I've been told he was son ofJohn Whitehurst and grandson of John Whitehurst and Elizabeth Carraway.
Bottom line, I have quite a bit of information on the Whitehurst family, but I question almost all of it right now.I just recently completed documenting my direct lineage back to Richard and Ellen (at least to my satisfaction).I'm quite involved in several other projects right now, but I hope to slowly piece documented facts about the Whitehursts together.
