ANDREW LUNDY WHITSELL
Andrew Lundy Whitsell was born September 20, 1852 in Beverly township, Ontario, Canada and departed this life October 27, 1940 at his home in Hamlet, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years 1 month and 7 days.He settled in Montcalm, County, Michigan, where he grew to manhood.In the spring of 1882 he was baptized and untied with Wesleyn Methodist church and later untited with the Church of Christ at Palisade.
He was united in marriage to Clara Ann Rowland in October , 1878.To this union three children were born.Goldie Amanda, Matilda Jane and Robert Warren.He moved with his family to Palisade, Nebraska a town of only one building in August, 1884 where he endured all the hardships of pioneer life.He was carpenter by trade and leaves many buildings in the country as landmarks of his labor.
He leaves to mourn his departure his aged wife, with whom he spent sixty-two years October 1, 1940, two daughters, Mrs. Claud Graves and Mrs. John Horn and one son, Robert Warren, all of this vicinity, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grand children.
He was a kind, loving father and husband, always putting the welfare of others first, never thinking of himself, but always trying to smooth the rough spots in others paths.If his advice was sought it was freely and wisely given.He has been a constant and patient sufferer for a number of years with never a word of complaint.
A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is still; A place is vacant in our home. Which never can be filled.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Hamlet church with Adam Doane, officiating, and burial was made in the Palisade cemetery.
