My George Whiting that comes closest to what I saw in your post, was George Whiting b. 1780 Wiltshire, England. His wife was Hannah Unknown Whiting b. 1772 Wiltshire, England.
Another close reference that I found was that you had a John Whiting who I have born 1800 Massachuetts and passed away after 1860 Nashville, Davidson, Tennesee and abrother named James T. Whiting.
Something that I tell you about John Whiting, son of George and Hannah Whiting of England, was that this couple had at least six children that I've been able to find with the help of another lady who lived in Kentucky, who I don't know whether is still living, but she passed some of this information on to me and then, some of this is of my direct family members.
John Whiting married Sarah Josephine Pike and I won't be at all surprised if the name of Elizabeth fit within this name too. Sarah was born 1812 Pike, Tennessee and d. after 1860 Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee. John and Sarah had as far as I can find so far, six (6) children named: 1) Sophia Pope Whiting b. 1823 Massachuetts 2) Mary V. Whiting b. 1825 (both early daughters passed away in Robertson County, Tennessee.) 3) Eliabeth Ann 'Betsy' Whiting b. 15 Nov 1829 Robertson County, Tennesse d. 31 Jan 1905 Seattle, King, Washington buried Washell Cemetery who married my great, great, great-grandfather Robert Randall Warmack (whose surname after DNA testing had had his surname of Womack turned into Warmack by a federal marshall within the first 1850 census which means that's why my maiden name is Warmack) They moved to California in Jul 1887 the whole branch of Warmacks from Davidson, Tennesse. 4)W. H. Whiting b. 1839 Dist #12 Robertson, Tennessee d. after 1860 Dist #12 Robertson, Tennessee, who married Emma Unknown and had three children: James b. 1853, S. E. b. 1856, and Samuel b. 1858 and all were born in Robertson County, Tennesse. 5) Elijah Whiting b. 30 Nov 1847 Robertson, Tennessee d. 01 Dec 1922 Robertson, Tennessee married Barbara Melissa Holland on 04 Oct 1880 Robertson, Tennessee who had two children George M. Whiting b. 26 Jul 1881 Robertson, Tennessee and William Cherry Whiting b. 30 Jan 1884 Robertson, Tennessee. 6) Sarah Josephine Whiting b. 05 Sep 1854 Greenbrier, Robertson, Tennessee d. 05 Jul 1934 Greenbrier, Robertson, Tennessee. Sarah married twice. Once to C. H. Dorris who I'm still struggling with getting information (had one daughter, Eunice Dorric b. 105 Sep 1884 Greenbrier, Robertson, Tennessee.) and James Jimmy Cole with whom she had one son, name Shellie Cole (son) b. 13 Apr 1896 Davidson, Tennessee.
Hope things are good with you. You wrote/sent this in 2010, and all I can do is pray this will get to you. Although my whole branch of Warmack left Tennessee for California, and remained for 100 yrs, I screwed everything up by going into the navy after that became a navy wife which means I've performed a great deal of packing and moving within my adult life, and am finally residing in Texas, about a half hours from Houston, and plan NEVER to move again EVER.
Hope we can communicate about the Whiting family. Sincerely, Rhonda Warmack Freshwater Houston (firstname.lastname@example.org)
