Thomas Whitledge b. 4 March 1788 in Bourbon Co.KY and Sara Jane Curry were married 1809 in Cynthiana, Harrison Co.KY.
(Thus the cemetery inscription is in error, as 1809 is the year that Sara Jane's birth would have been on the headstone.)
Thomas Whitledge is the son of Capt. John Whitledge b. 1734 in Overwharton Parish, Prince William Co.VA who died Oct. 1788, just a few months after the birth of Thomas, in Paris, Bourbon Co.KY. He was reportedly killed by Indians, but lingered and died at home.
Thomas was married to Alcey (Alice) Freetor b. c. 1755 in Stafford Co.VA. She died 25 July 1830. Alcey next married Francis Callis and they evidently raised the younger children. See 1810 census.
John Whitledge was the son of John Whitledge and Elizabeth Overall.
Thomas Whitledge b. 1600 was the father of John Whitledge who married Overall. . He was born 1660 and died 1721. He was married to Sibell Harrison, daughter of immigrant Burr Harrison. Their land and cemetery are located in what is now Quantico VA.
I have the wills of these Whitledges, and much of their descendency. Thomas Whitledge I was probably the son of a Robert Whitledge b. 1637 who was in the area, and grandson of William Whitledge who arrived 1621 at Norfolk VA with a Todd.( The Whitledges were interconnected with Todds through the generations.)
Will share any information--have most of the children and many of their spouses.
