My husband's grandfather was Otis Whitsitt, son of John Addison Whitsitt, son of Ralph Whitsitt, son of William, Sr, son of Samuel V Whitsitt. According to my recordsWilliam Sr had four wives: 1. Ann McGee-children were John, Samuel, Mary(Polly), James, William and Elizabeth(called Betsy). 2. Martha Woodard -Joseph Wright, Sarah(called Sally), Chesley. 3. Nancy Greene Hill - Lot, Ralph, Daniel Green, Allen Hill. 4. Rebecca Malcomb - no children. I visited the grave sites of William and Rebecca in Mt. Carmel, IN and took pictures. The cemetery is hard to find - it is the first road south of Deputy, IN on rte 3. Many of the statistics associated with William's family were sent to me by a descendent of Allen Hill.I also have an official death certificate of Martha Acree Whitsitt, wife of Ralph Whitsitt. She died in 1905 and is buried in Decatur, IL.(cause of death -" old age.") I also have a copy of the will of Samuel Whitsitt from the Montgomery County will book dated August 10, 1815. I found a wealth of information on the web site: www.whitsett-wall.com. Learning about your ancestry is fascinating. I am just glad I did not have 13 children to raise.
