Thank you for responding, Wanda. I am confident that the marriages and children of William, son of Samuel Sr., after he moved to Indiana are well documented. According to the indenture between the heirs and legal representatives of Samuel Whitsett Sr. of the first part and Samuel Whitsett Jr., 4 SEP 1815, in Deed Book 7, pp. 422-426, of the archives in theMontgomery County KY County Clerk’s Office, the name of Williams wife in 1819 was Patsy. Genealogists have written that her full name was Patsy Ann McGee, but I have no documentation of that.
What I question is the customary assignment of the first four or five children of William and Patsy based upon the Whitsett-Phillips bible. I believe, in agreement with Phillips family documents, that these children belonged to Ralph Whitsett and Allie Phillips—not to William Whitsett and Patsy Ann McGee. I'm hoping that someone has documentation other than the Whitsett-Phillips bible and later bibles that essentially copied the same information about the children of William and Patsy Ann.
