After posting the brief response earlier, I decided to go ahead and post a part of the information that I have on Joseph Whittenburg, father of Daniel. It may not help your search, but perhaps will help someone else.
In an earlier post, you mentioned that you had not found Daniel in early Tn census records. The early census records from Tenn are incomplete... For myself, I also searched those records to verify that the Joseph Whittenberg who first married Susan, then apparently Milly Rosebrough, wasn't two different Josephs (older/younger). The court/estate records indicate it was just one Joseph.
