Peter Trisler Whittinghill - KY, 1800s
I am searching for a connection between the Whittinghill family and Dr. Peter Trisler who lived in Jessamine County KY between 1790 and 1821 when he died.Dr. Peter Trisler is my 6th great grandfather – direct line.Early on, sometime around 1802 or so, Dr. Peter Trisler was involved in a civil court case (chancery) in Jessamine County and had as one of his witnesses a man named John Whittinghill for whom Dr. Peter Trisler was required to pay for Whittinghill’s appearance in court (2 or 3 days I believe) and his travel.I believe, although I would have to check my records, that this man was the father of Peter Trisler Whittinghill.I have not been able to determine why the area where the Whittinghill’s lived in Ohio County was called Trisler nor have I been able to determine if this tenuous connection of the court case is purely coincidental, nor the reason for this place being given the name Trisler.Does anyone have information on a connection between the Whittinghill and Trisler families?I have not found one in my research and I wonder if Peter Trisler Whittinghil was given the middle name Trisler because of the location of his birth or some sort of family connection to the Trisler family.Surely there is an explanation as Trisler is not a common name – either for people or places.I would greatly appreciate any information or ideas.
Thanks,
Connie
