I have a James Whitworth who was transported to Tasmania in 1841 after being given a 10 years sentence for attempting to forge a cheque whilst working as a superintendent in a cotton factory. He was convicted on 17.8.1840 at Lancashire Azzises. He left behind his wife (Ann) & children: James, Thomas, William, John, Mary, Richard & Joseph. He found a new wife, a young convict & produced a further 12 children. Despite the hardships, he lived to the age of 88 & is buried in Hobart, Tasmania. I'm trying to trace his family he left behind & court/gaol records.
