Kathryn, Keeping up with the Jones' is driving a lot of people goofy. Yes,I see your William C.Jones with Marshall J.,6, on the 1850 Jeff.Co.census.Still trying to figure out the kids of Marshall Jones,d.1828,where it only mentions wife Sarah, and also mentions her as 'Now being Sarah Hildebrand'.I believe Marshall and Sarah were GP's of Marshall J..In the 1830 census,Jonathan and Sarah Hildebrand have 10 people in house 15-20 years old. Some are Jonathan's ,some are Sarah and Marshall's.Sarah is listed as 30-40,Jonathan as 50-60.So Marshall may have only been 30-40 when he died. There are 2 other Jones heads of house in 1830,Henry H.Jones,30-40,and Jacob,20-30. Both could be brothers Of Marshall.
In 1840, Henry H.Jones is 40-50,possibly a brother to Old Marshall ? Jacob has gone, but Solomon,William C.,Jessee and John are all 20-30. All possible sons of Old Marshall ?
In 1850 I find Sarah Hidebrand,58,Ohio,has with her William Jones,9,Mo..Also 1850,John W.Jones,27,Mo.,(b.c.1823),your William C.,33,Mo.(b.c.1817),and again,Henry H.,gunsmith,58,N.C..
Jessee Jones is listed again, now 31,gunsmith,(b.c.1819),but birthplace of Indiana does not fit with others, to be a possible brother. And Solomon Jones,31,(b.c.1819)MS,is listed on this census also, but he is "iffy"
because of birth year and place. There's also a Daniel Jones,38,(b.c.1812),TN..I don't think Sarah and Marshall were married in Mo.,she's from Ohio, I believe he's from Carolina's.They had to "hook up" somewhere, maybe they met somewhere in between ? Tennessee ? Indiana ? Mississippi?
William C. and Anne Drennen were probably cousins as Sarah Jones Hildebrand was a Wickerham. I'm trying to find more on Old Marshall now. So far ,I've found a Marshall Jones in the land and tax records of 1786 Georgia. This Marshall would have had to been born at least 1765 to be listed. Maybe too old for ours ? But it could be his father. Why don't you jump over to the Jefferson County,Missouri genforum. Right now theres an early Jeff.Co.settlers project going on. And theres quite a bit on your families , including Drennen,Wickerham, and Jones. Happy Hunting , Al
