Collin Wickline of Ohio (m. Elizabeth Jane Lambert), Civil War Veteran, had a number of sons, not all of whose names I have in front of me. My direct ancestor is his son Thomas. It has been clear that Thomas and his brother Levi married relatives. Thomas's wife Rachel Louderback is the daughter Mary Ellen Sturgill, the half-sister of Levi's wife Addie Sturgill. There has also been evidence of a further connection because Rachel's father Anderson Perry Louderback, of unproven ancestry, is a likely relative of Addie's mother, Sarah Ann Louderback (she was not Mary Ellen Sturgill's mother).
A likely further connection with another brother's wife has recently been demonstrated. It is important because it also seems to verify the correct line for Anderson Louderback, which has been a subject of conjecture.
Thomas and Levi's brother William Henry Wickline married Amy Vermillion. Without giving her full line, she is descended from the Vermillions of Prince George County, Maryland. Her great-grandfather was Uriah Vermillion. Uriah's brother Hezekiah Vermillion (b.1769) is the maternal grandfather of a Anderson Louderback, b. 1836 Bracken Co., Kentucky.
I cannot completely trace the movements of the Vermillions and Louderbacks between Maryland, Kentucky and Ohio (at least), but I think this may confirm the ancestry of Anderson Perry Louderback, unless someone can show otherwise.
Simply put, we know that at least two of the Wickline brothers married relatives. We know that AN Anderson Louderback is the cousin of Amy Vermillion who married a Wickline brother. And we know that AN Anderson Louderback is the father of Rachel Louderback who married another Wickline brother. This Anderson Louderback is also a nonblood relative (and likely a blood relative as well) of Sarah Louderback whose daughter married yet another Wickline brother.
Therefore, I think it is likely that these Anderson are the same person.
Do any other of Collin's descendants know of ties to the Louderback/Sturgill/Vermillion lines?
