I am the father of Don Wiening and the first cousin of Mary Wiening, both of whom have recently posted to this site. It seems I am also a great-great-grandson of the person you mention.
I returned yesterday from a trip to Germany and wish I had known about the village of Wiening last week so I could check it out.
My sister, Helen Rumpf (nee Wiening)is the family geneaologist, and I will refer her to this site. However, I have copies of some of her worksheets which indicate, among other things:
Johann Christoph Friedrich Wiening born 8 May 1826 in Martenshagen or Wiepkenhagen Germany; died 23 July 1908 in Milwaukee.
His father was Johann Joachim Wiening; his mother's mainden name was Elisabeth Dorothea Brodhagen.
His wife's full maiden name was Luise Christiane Joihine Schmidt, borh 9 December 1827 and died of pneumonia 21 April 1906 in Milwaukee.

Johann Christian Martin Wiening was my great grandfather. My grandfather was Johann Carl Heinrich Wiening; my father was Robert Herman (really herrmann or hermann--I don't recall which but could find it somewhere, but he dropped the extra letters).
