Deborah,
Your messages about Ancel Roe Wiggington were placed years ago, but I think I can help you, if you haven't already got your answers.
Ancel Roe W. born 4/17/1815 in the Pendleton District, S.C.; he was a preacher who married on 1/21/1841 in CassCo., Ga. Rachel Russell (born 1822 in S.C., died after 1870 in Jasper, Pickens Co., Ga.); both are buried in Price or Pine Creek Church Cemetery. They were listed in the 1860 Pickens Co., Ga. census, page 996, with 6 children noted.
I have the names of only 4 children: Euphratus Rachael W., Richard O. W., James Walter W., and Major Maxwell W .
Ancel's parents were George Washington Wiggington (6/23/1795 in Greenville, S.C. - 1834 in Miss.) and Elizabeth Wooten (5/28/1793 in Pendleton District, S.C. - 1820 in Pickens Co., S.C.) and had 14 children in 11 years of marriage.George W. W. married Diana Johnson Oyler on 9/28/1820 and had 9 children, including my ancestor James T. Wiggington. Diana was 1/64th Shawnee indian (through Martin Chartier and Seaworth, a Pekowi Shawnee Native American.
But, your interest is in Elizabeth Wooten, daughter of Josiah Wooten (born 1770 in Pitt Co., N.C.) and Sarah Rogers (b. 1/17/1774 in S.C., died 1/22/1855 in Indiana). She was the daughter of Stephen Rogers and Priscilla ___.Josiah was the son of John Wooten (1724 in Isle of Wight Co., Va. - 1799 in Pitt Co., N.C.) and Mary Johnston, daughter of James Jonston.John was the son of Richard W. and Lucy Council (daughter of Hodges c. and Lucy Hardy, granddaughter of John Hardy and Alice, great granddaughter of John Hardy and Olive Council), grandson of Richard W. and Joyce Albridgeton, great grandson of Thomas W. and Sarah Jennings, gggrandson of Thomas W. (first to immigrate to America) and Jane ____, ggggrandson of Thomas Wotton and Catherine, and 4th great grandson of Lewes Wotton.
That is about all I have on Ancel's family, hope it helps you and that you will let me know of any errors.
Kent Wilson
