McAfee Mrs Elvina McAfee died at the home of her daughter at Alexander, Tuesday October 17, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 20 days. Elvina Glaspy wa born in Michigan, July 27, 1843 and ws united in marriage to James McAfee in the state of Indiana in 1862.To this union was born nine children; Mrs Addie Gibson of Noti, Oregon; Mrs Ella Bannister and Mrs Lottie Boyle of Alexander, Kansas; Henry McAfee of Hoisington; Mrs Mattie Wigton of Wellington, Kansas; Will McAfee of Claflin; Charles McAfee of Arkansas City and 2 daughters who preceeded the mother to the other world.Her husband also died a number of years ago. Her three daughters were with her at the time of her death. Mrs McAfee came to Barton county (Kansas) with the family in 1878 and located on a farm on Blood creek where she spent the remainder of her life. They were among the earliest settlers of that part of the county and passed through all the strenous times incident to pioneer life. Mrs McAfee joined in church fellowship with the United Brethren church in her early life and remained a faithful member until death. Funeral services will be held at the Albion Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock, Friday October 20, conducted by Rev. Schlotterbeck and interment will be made in the Boyle cemetery.
