Has anyone researching the Wilber families of Massachusetts come across an Abner James Wilber? He seems to be the stepfather of my great great grandmother Bridget Lynch. He was living in New Zealand from at least 1866, working at a sawmill. I have found him on the New Bedford Whaling crew database as leaving New Beford on the bark "JD Thompson" in 1855 for the North Pacific. It was his first voyage as a whaler and he was probably in his early 20's. I am assuming he left the ship either in New Zealand or another Pacifc Island. He died in New Zealand in 1918 and is buried at Waikumete Cemetery in Auckland, NZ.
