I have recently uncovered some additional information and have some new assumptions regarding the ancestors of Robert Willis Wilbourn of Nelson Co. VA:
From the 1880 Census for Nelson Co., Town of Rockfish, Robert Willis Wilbourn was born in 1841 and married Elizabeth "Bettie" Hill, who was also born in 1841.They had, at a minimum, seven children: 1. Martha E. (b. 1862) 2. Littleton T. (b. 1863) 3. Clara (b. 1864) 4. Charles (b. 1867) 5. Robert W. (b. 1871) 6. Ida C.(b. 1876) 7.Russell Aubray (b. 3/29/1881)
An 1850 Census for Nelson Co. has Robert Willis in the following household:
Richard Wilbourne married to Eliza? 1. Robert 2. John 3. Mary 4. Sarah C. 5. William 6. Catharine 7. Ann G.
The 1860 Census for Nelson Co. shows the following (note the drop of the "e" on Wilbourn and the marriage to Polly, rather than Eliza):
Richard L. Wilbourn married to Polly? (b. Appomattox Co.) 1. John G. (Robert was already married by this time) 2. Mary E. 3. Sally E. 4. William B. 5. Katharine F. 6. Ann H. 7. Laura 8. Richard L. (eventually married Sarah Farrar and had a daughter Estelle--- Sarah's sister was living with them in 1880, as well as a servant named Birtie Mayo)
Some historical records on this line of Wilbourns seem to suggest Richard L. Wilbourn(e)'s parents were Robert Wilbourne (c. 1780-1849) and Elizabeth Woodson Wilbourne, who had at least four children and one adopted son (William Boaz) and lived out their lives in the town of Schulyer in Nelson Co.
Would like confirmation of this information, as well as any additional information on my Wilbourn line.Thanks.
