Lemuel Wilbor, Sr.b ca 1733/4 Raynham MA d 1820 Stafford CT m. (2) 4 Jul 1771 Sarah Fisher b. 1723 d. 1820 Stafford, CT
Does anyone else have trouble with the dates provided for this second wife and 5 children by "Wildbores in America"?????We all know there are errors lurking in these volumes ....
Here's my problem: Lemuel, Sr. was baptized 2 Sept 1739 in Raynham, MA. We know it wasn't infant baptism...he and his brothers George and Josiah were baptized probably with Simeon, who's dob is 1739.The (assumed) eldest son, Meshach was b. 6 Dec 1731 so Lemuel was born maybe 1733-34.
SARAH FISHER, Lemuel's SECOND wife, is said to be ten years OLDER (b. 1723) than he at their marriage in 1771, which places her at 49 yrs old when she bears her first child by him and 58 years old when she bears the last.
Taking an older second wife deviates widely from the norm but bearing a child at 58 or 9 seems really to be pressing credibility to the max.
Has the identity of Sarah Fisher or the validity of her date of birth ever been resolved?Naturally, my line has to descend from this mystery lady!
