My father was Ralph Norma Wilbur, son of Willard Thompson Wilber, Jr.b. 1865d. 1929& married to Sarah "Sadie" Florence Hartshornb. 1878d. 1947.I am in the direct line of Thomas Wilboreb. 1482 in Royster, West Riding, Yorkshire, Englandd. in 1564 Colchester, Essex, England & married to Alice.
Four generations later, Samuel Wilber b. 1594 in England, came over on The Winthrop Fleet to America & was married to Ann Smithb. 1598.There's a great website called:The Little Compton Historical Society which shows text, pictures of the actual Wilbore House which eight generations of Wilbores lived....starting with Samuel Wilbore in the early 1600's.
Interesting note that through the wife of Willard Thompson Wilber (my g-g-grandfather) b. 1841----Mary Esther MORSEb. 1840, I am related to Elizabeth Andrew "LIZZIE" BORDON-----her mother was a Sarah MORSE.
The Wilbores were a very prominent, civic-minded, self-sufficient & independent family. They didn't like working for others many were business owners. Samuel Wilber's son, Shadrach Wilber, b. 1631, was the first town clerk in Taunton, MA. Four generations later, Joseph Wilbur, b. 1733, was a 1stLt in the Revolutionary War.
Earlier spellings og the names vary....the best thing is to know the approximate dates so you can find the right person.
ANY information to exchange or comment on would be greatly appreciated.
Also interested in my grandmother's lineHartshorn and also MORSE from Mary Esther Morse.
