The death at Buenos Ayres, on the 16th June, of Sra. Rufina Kidd de Wilde, at the great age of 103 years - daughter of Andrew Kidd, (Farm Servant), & Jane, his wife.....Mrs. Wilde, the patriarchal survivor of all who landed from the Symmetry, shared to the full the chequered experiences of those pioneer days. In the year 1844, when a grown woman, she narrowly escaped death at the hends [sic] of the lawless banditti of Dictator Rosas, that was a tragic scene in the partido of San Vincente when, at the house of her father, a whole family of nine (9) were mercilessly butchered. Being now married & in her own home, Mrs. Wilde was one of the two daughters who alone escaped the knives of the ruthless assassins. She herself had a large family & many descendants; she lived to see her [great-grandchildren], which is given to very few.
