Since about the first of the year we have been discussing one of the earliest Wildasin families in King George's American Colonies. Johannes and Catharine Barnitz Wildasin arrived in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania about 1740.The discussion has taken place on the Rootsweb York County, PA list. If you are interested I suggest you go there and check the archives for this year.
If you know where in Germany they originated please let me know.In Germany I am told they would probably have been known as WITTERSINN orWILDINSTIN.
There are several reports of Wildasin with spelling variations in Newton and Beaver Township, Columbiana County, Ohio - later this was Mahoning County. Some of them are known to have been Brethren (crudely knicknamed Dunkards.)
If you can add anything concerning their early religion ie abt 1800, or their place of origin in Germany please post on this list.
