I am a quilt historian who collects quilts, quilt blocks and unfinished quilt tops that bear signatures. I then research and document them. As you can see, my love of quilt history as well as family history and genealogy team-up very well.
Recently I purchased a set of 25 quilt blocks that I date from the 1850s-1860s. Each block has a piece of paper loosely stitched to it with a name rendered in pencil or ink. The names have not been transferred to the fabric. This is not uncommon. Some busy person simply never got around to it.
In doing research within the 1860 U.S. Census Records, I discovered the Waller couple in Washington County, New York, though the husband & wife were actually born in CT.
I found all but one family in the message boards on this website. That’s why I have contacted you.If you are related to any of these families, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
