You say that the name "Hybert" is unusual, and that is certainly true. But I seem to have gotten used to it, after more than 70 years. I did not, however, burden either of my sons with it. It is a great name for searching records, tho, In my family tree I have one Atkinson, three Buffkins, one Smith, one Stephens, two Stricklands and seven Williamsons named Hybert. I even today found a Hibert Williamson in Kentucky, listed in the 1870 Census! A Google search found more than forty Hyberts, even one Hybert Hybertsen. And a Hybert's Creek near Fayetteville, NC. So what was the surname of the Hybert you found in Florence County, SC? Since Florence is not too distant from Columbus County, NC. And if anyone knows someone with this name, get in touch, please.
