News update,Isham Williamson is the missing son of Lewis Williamson and Mary Tatom(?). I found the below deed abstracts in the books of Abstracts of Columbus Co, NC Deeds by Jason McLeod Williamson. Clearly, they show that Isham Williamson (1779-1820) was the missing son of Lewis Williamson. But I also learned from these two deed abstracts, and maybe later than some of you, that he also had an older daughter, Mary Williamson (1770-aft 1820), who had married Lott Rich Sr (1758-1846), probably in Sampson Co, NC, sometime before 1788, when Lewis Williamson and family left for the Cerro Gordo area in Bladen Co (in 1808, was in SW Columbus Co).

Recorded in Columbus Co, NC Deed Book B, page 006.
[NOTE: THIS TRANSACTION DOES NOT PROVE OR DISPROVE THAT LOTT WAS NOT A SON OF LEWIS WILLIAMSON. THE SIBLINGS COULD HAVE BEEN SELLING THEIR SHARES IN THE LAND TO LOTT AS A BROTHER OR NOT AS A BROTHER. IT DOES SHOW LABAN DID NOT HAVE CHILDREN TO LEAVE HIS LAND TO.]

So, that still seems to leave my ancestor Lott Williamson without a father. He obviously is very closely involved with the Lewis and Mary Williamson family and their children, but there doesn't appear to be room for him in the censuses and 1795 will. Was he a nephew of a long dead brother of Lewis? Was he the product of an illicit affair? Questions, questions, questions. The place to find those answers would be in the Minutes of the Columbus Co, NC County Court. But alas, it appears that the minutes surviving today, don't start until about 1819/1820, when Lott Williamson is a grown man of 30 years of age and well established in the Cerro Gordo community. Below are the earliest documents I am aware of, where his name is mentioned. He would be about 17 years of age and still single in 1807. WOW! I thought you had to be 21 years of age to buy land back in 1807. Maybe it was 16 years of age. Very strange. If one of you folks have an earlier document citation, please let me hear from you.
5/26/1807: Uriah Flowers sold to Lott Williamson (Both of Bladen Co), for $85, 100 acres, adj. Mrs. Williamson, Laban Williamson, Charles Woodell & Green, being part of 1,920 acres conveyed from Jacob Rhodes to Uriah Flowers. Wits: Laban Williamson, Richard Williamson. Recorded in Columbus Co, NC Deed Book A, pages 429-430.
9/3/1807: Uriah Flowers, of Bladen Co, sold to Richard Williamson, for $20, 100 acres on west side of Horse Branch, adj. Lott Williamson & Richard Williamson. Wits: Laban T. Williamson, Richard Edens. Recorded in Columbus Co, NC Deed Book A, page 445.
As you can see Uriah Flowers (brother of Lott Williamson's Father-in-Law Goldsborough Flowers)is selling land, in 1807,on Horse Branch, to Lott Williamson and Richard Williamson. And we see that this land purchased by Lott Williamson appears to be next to lands owned by the widow of Lewis Williamson, Mary Tatom(?) Williamson, and her sons Richard Williamson and Laban T. Williamson.Question: Does anybody know where Horse Branch is located in Columbus Co, NC? Supposedly, there is a Horse Branch north of Lake Waccamaw, but that doesn't seem to fit near the Cerro Gordo area.
That's all for now.
