The John Willmott you're looking for was my father. He died in Asheville, NC in late 1986.
My mother, Lucy Agnes McHale (Willmott) died in Asheville, NC in 1991.
Genological information about the tribe was (and remains) sparse indeed. Most of the pertinent data is contained in an autobiography, my Grandfather, Benjamin Albert Willmott, wrote for my father. It gives some details of his family's success (and failure) as a contractor in London. The Willmott firm dismantled the Crystal Palace.
The family fortunes took a dive after a bridge, built with watered concrete) collapsed atop a train.
Benjamin was called to the ministry after hearing General William Booth preaching in the streets of London. He sailed to Canada and thence to Maine, where he attended seminary and married Alice Upton Lowell, daughter of a newspaper editor.
Reverend Willmott was a very successful Congregationalist pastor in Quincy, Roxbury, Lowell and Leominister, MA. He died in the late 1940's.
Mother left virtually no information about her anticedents. The McHales left Ireland and sailed to Canada. Her father, Henry Sheridan McHale, was an itinerant pastor in rural Vermont and Massachusets.
My wife and I have four children, including a son, John I. Willmott, Jr. Other than that, I can't really add much more.
If I can help with any questions, plese feel free to fire away.
