Benjamin Willson, MA 1638 On
My partner is a descendent of Benjamin Willson. This is the informations she has:
Benjamin Willson, Sr. along with Joseph Willson are listed as one of the first 46 purchasers of land in Taunton, MA in 1638.There is an earlier listing for Joseph Willson in Dorchester, MA.
Benjamin Willson (2) married Elizabeth ? and was at Rehoboth, MA as early as 1698.They had a number of children, including Jonathan born Dec. 8. 1698, Rebeckah, Hannah, Frances, Elizabeth, Samuel, Ruth, Bethia, Abigail, Mary.
Jonathan Willson was married March 20, 1723 to Hannah (Haile) Carr of Swansea, MA and they move to Newport, RI where he dies in 1729.
His son Jonathan was born Jan. 22, 1729 and he married Hannah Nichols.
Their son Jonathan, born Aug. 14, 1755 married Sarah Weeden.
Their son James Atkinson Willson born in Newport July 8, 1795 married Henrietta Horswell in 1797.
Their son James H. Willson born Jan. 14, 1820 married first Margaret Bliven and second Mary Carlisle.
I find that there are similar names of Benjamin Willson who traveled through Taunton, Woburn and Rehoboth at the same time. Are these all the same family? My thinking was that Benjamin Willson and brother (or father) Joseph came into NE in Dorchester prior to 1638 and then down to Taunton to buy land (they are also listed as first purchasers of land in Norton, MA) and then up to Woburn and then down to Rehoboth. And how does Connecticut fit in?Any speculation out there?
