Jackie, if you are still out there, would your Ambrose be son of Henry F. WILSON??? Look at the 1850 Kaufman County, TX census - Page 263, Dwelling: 345; Family: 346. If you can not find/get, let me know, and I will help.
My interest in this family is in Henry F. WILSON. He apparently married my GGGGrandmother, Rosiana JONES sometime in late 1850's there in Kaufman County after her husband, Isaac JONES died. Isaac and Rosiana JONES are listed in the 1850 Kaufman County, TX Census also. They, Isaac and Rosiana, are my brick walls on this family line.
It is my hope to find someone in Henry's line with information on the marriage/family of Henry/Rosiana that might help with her family line. It appears that all/most involved came out of North Carolina.
Anyway, if you think this is your Ambrose, let me know. Also, he is listed in the 1860 Kaufman County Census in the A.J. ELLIS houshold (Page: 50B-51A, Dwelling No: 376, Family No: 376). I don't know if there is a family connection here or if he is just lodging.
Henry is listed as H.F. WILLSON in this 1860 census in the S. KELLY household (Page: 41B; Dwelling: 245; Family: 246). Again, don't know if there is kinship here or not.
Ambrose apparently enlisted in Company G. 19th Texas Cavalry (CSA) on April 1, 1862 and was Sgt and 1st Sgt. He is noted in military records as being: 6'4" tall, blue eyes, black hair. Discharged April 17, 1863.
