I'm looking for the Canadian ancestry of brothers Isaac and John Wilmot(t) who settled in southwest Wisconsin.Does anyone have records of two brothers moving to the US?
ISAAC WILMOT was born Abt. 1814 in Canada (French), and died 27 March 1871 in Potosi, Grant, Wisconsin. He married MARY AUBERLA 10 January 1845 in Potosi, Grant, Wisconsin. She was born Abt. 1807 in Switzerland, and died 07 March 1881 in Potosi, Grant, Wisonsin. The Auberles were settlers to Lord Selkirk's Colonly in Manitoba, but moved to Wisconsin after the Red River flood of 1825.
JOHN WILMOT was born abt 1820 in Canada (French), and died 08 November 1904 in Phillips, Price, Wisconsin. He married VIRGINIA/EUGENA "JENNIE" CORDOR/COYEAUX/CARRIER Abt. 1851 in Canada. She was born Abt. 1826 in Canada (French), and died 20 November 1907 in Worchester, Price, Wisconsin. The first son EDWARD WILMOT was born in Canada January 21, 1851.
Surname is spelled as Wilmot - Wellmette - Willmott.Isaac Wilmott arrived in Wisconsin by 1832, and his younger brother John immigrated to the US in 1850s and took up homestead rights in northern Illinois. He was a cattle and hog producer, and it seems that the land in IL (some of it where Chicago now stands) was too low and damp for his liking.By 1859, John moved to Potosi, Wisconsin and lived near his brother.
