My maiden name is Wilshusen - Over the years my brother and I have been playing with our heritage - We have come across some info that may interest you. John Wilshusen and his wife Catrina (Catherine)Meyer came to the US from Germany, @ Prussia from what we can tell - They came in the late 1800's. My brother has the year, anyway, they had thirteen children Nickolaus (Klaus)b. 1862, Rebecca b.1864, Johann (John)b.1866, Anna b. 1868, Lena b.1870, Kord Heinrich (Henry) b.1871, married Dora b. UnKnown, Karl Dietrich (Dack or Dick)b.1874, Otto b. 1876, Fredrick Karl (Charles Fredrick) b. 1880, married Maria Johanna Margaurite Eggers (later changed her name to Mary Jane because there was already a Maria in the family) Ernst August b. 1881, Maria (Mary) b. 1884.
Our research shows that only two were married but it seems only one had 6 children - That could be wrong info.
Friedrich Karl married Mary Jane and seems to have had the following children Lawerence Fredrick, he died in childhood , Leota Fern Wilshusen married Trisian Calhoun not sure when. Flossie Low Wilshusen married Forrest Ethan Robinson, Chester Charles Wilshusen married Eva Wilshusen, she may still be alive, Victor Lavawn Wilshusen married Helen Bolton she also may still be alive, Betty Jean Wilshusen married Edward Miller, Jack Waldmann(no children), and Art Ferguson it looks like all of them may still may be living too.
My G grandfathers name was Arthur Wilshusen he died in s. Calif. @ 1968, my grandfather's name was George Wilshusen he died when my father was 11, that makes it around 1945 or so. My father remembers Flossie Lowe but we still haven't been able to make our connection into this tree. I need to pump my dad more.
This branch of the Wilshusen's came up the Mississippi river to Mo. from there to Stafford Kansas, where they owned an Iron shop. My grandfather was a welder and he taught all his sons (3) the trade.
I heard that one of the brothers went to Canada and two others went west to California. That would be our side.
I hope this is of interest to you - If you could fill in any gaps please email me back at Lori.v@ lycos.com
Your message was a little old on the message board I read, so I don't know if you are still trying to pursue this information or not but I would appreciate a response to fill in my gaps.
Thank You
