Pauline: I must apologise for the delay in responding to your posting. Well, here it is at last.
I see that you have found seven children from the William WILTSHIRE/Harriet COLLINS marriage. That's one more than I have. If you have been able to view the Parish Register records, I would be very interested to know what they tell us.
My ancestor was Sarah WILTSHIRE. Sarah was the daughter of Caroline, who was the oldest of the six children that I know about. I have a copy of Sarah's birth certificate which states that she was born on 19th Dec. 1842 at Amport, birth registered at the Ludgershall sub-district of Andover district on 28th Dec. 1842. The father's name is not stated and Sarah kept her mother's surname. Sarah married John NEAL, a whipmaker, on 26th Oct. 1867 at Holy Trinity Church, Islington. Sarah's surname appears on the marriage certificate as WILSHIRE and her father's name is given as William WILSHIRE (actually her grandfather), a Gardener. I am in contact with two other NEAL family descendants, one in Kent, and one in New Zealand, and they have provided a great deal of information about the NEAL family, but we have very little about the WILTSHIREs.
At the time of the 1881 census, John and Sarah had nine children. The second of them, Louisa Agnes, was my grandmother. She married my grandfather Harry PYE, also from the Islington area, but they were then living in Liverpool.
I live in Chippenham, Wiltshire, but as far as I know have no Wiltshire (county) ancestors.
