I am hoping that everyone with Irish and/or Catholic Windles that came to North America will post to this posting so that maybe we can sort ourselves out. There are very few Irish Windles by the look of it and you can't always tell religions by postings so I don't know how many would have been RC. This is the list of my Irish Catholic Windles: Thomas (Robert?)Windle born about 1790 in Ireland. Came to Canada early 1800's. Said to have been with other male family members who may have moved elsewhere. Lived in the Richibucto area of Kent Co. New Brunswick, Canada Mary McLean Windle w/o Thomas born about 1805 in N.B. Their children:
1.Margaret married William Clark 2.Barbara may have married William Murphy 3.Daniel married Bridget Morrison. They moved to Maine. Their children:Margaret married John Taylor and Patrick Conley,Mary Grace married John LeGoff,Thomas,Elizabeth married William Rist,Lucy married John Clancey,Robert,Isabella married William Shea(lived in Mass.)Patrick,Barbara,Agnes,Katherine married John H. Murray and lived in Portland,Maine. 4.Michael married mary Trainor of P.E.I. and lived in Saint John, N.B. Their children:Annie,Grace,Maggie married Mathew Geary/Garey in Saint John,Sarah married Arthur C. Porter,John married Mary Reagan. 5. Hugh married Annie unknown and lived in Kent Co. N.B. 6.Mary Grace married John Steele. She probably died in Medford,Massachusetts about 1925. 7. Robert born 1849. 8. James may have gone West in the late 1850's or early 1860's. 9. William married Lucy Black and lived in Freesoil,Michigan.Their children:Mary G.(Grace?),Lucy Ann,Robert,Emma,Winnie.Also Maude Ruth married James Athol Neill and William Thomas born Saginaw,Michichan died Milwaukee. There is also a mention of James Windle in the Charles Larpenteur book about the fur trade. It is said that one of our Windles was involved in the fur trade. 5.
