It was wonderful to hear from you. I have been trying for a very long time to find some information about the Winning family. I started looking when Geri, my half sister wrote that Artie had died. I had tried before to find Artie. He had come down to visit a few times, when my children were very young. Also I had come up to Janet's wedding. After that visit, I only heard from Artie one other time. Geri told me he had Alzheimers and had been very sick for over 10 yrs. I wish I would have known, but that seemed to be the story of my life. Artie had a hard time keeping in touch with me. Then when I developed breast cancer in 1999, I contacted Geri to tell her and to ask if anyone else in the family had breast cancer. My doctor said it was inherited because my cancer was Her2/nue which if detected early can be prevented. I knew Geri had two daughters so I wanted to inform others and to find the link (gene?). Geri said that Artie didn't visit or contact any of his sisters or brother very often, so there was no contact to follow up. Geri said, I think, Nancy was in contact occasionally. Then a year and one half ago Geri sent me the genealogy listing that Robert and Ada had written. I was so happy to know so much about a family that I was a part of, even though I never knew anyone. I remember that Artie one time stated that his mom and dad came down to Florida in the winter, but he never told me where or if I could contact them. Geri sent me addresses and I wrote to Irene, but I never heard from her until, I was contacted by Irene's daughter telling me Iene had died. Irene's daughter thought I was just a friend of her mothers. Oh well, I guess Artie failed to tell her anything about me. I am 58 yrs of age and would like to know something about my family. I don't know why, but Artie didn't want to talk about his family with me at all. I've always wanted to know but didn't have anyone to ask. Any information that you can share I would love to read. Thank you so much for writing. I live in North West Florida, in a small town called Shalimar, it is 50 miles east of Pensacola on the Gulf of Mexico. What a pleasure to meet you. Jean write when evey you can, I know life can be hectic, so don't worry about rushing. I'm just extremely happy to feel part of the family. Give your dad a hug for me. What a blessing to have lived so long a time, 90 is a mighty age.Thank you again.
