I am stuck on some Indiana Wintons. The first concerns the husband(s) of two Abigail/Abagail Winton’s.
The Indiana Marriage Collection shows the marriage of an Abigail Winton to James K. Lawson in Shelby County on 27 Dec 1869 and it shows the marriage of Abagail [sic] Winton to a Miles M. McDonald in Shelby County on 08 Feb 1866.
I know of two Abigail Winton’s (no Abagails) from Indiana, the daughter of Jesse S. Winton and Louisa Fox born about 1855 and her aunt, Abigail Winton, born in Apr 1842.
Can anyone match the husbands to the wives?
My second question concerns James Olis Winton born Jan 1875 and married to Sylvania Bozell.James Olis and Sylvania apparently had 7 children:
Florence Elmira Winton 1901 Lee Lawson Winton, b 17 Feb 1902 Bernice Winton Clyde Eugene Winton Herschel Bozell Winton Ruby E. Winton, b. 27 Apr 1897 Glen Olis Winton, b 10 Oct 1904
Jacob J Winton and Barbara A. Copple had a son, James R. Winton, born in 1875.
James R. Winton, age 5 (b. abt 1875), appears on the 1880 census in Van Buren, Shelby County, Indiana with his parents Jacob and Barbara.
James E. Winton, b Jan 1875, appears on the 1900 census in Cicero, Tipton County, Indiana, with his wife, Sylvania, and daughter, Ruby.
James O. Winton appears on the1910 census in Cicero, Tipton County, Indiana, with his wife, Sylvania and children; Ruby A. (12), Floris L.(9), Levy L. (8), and Olis G (4).
James E. and James O. are obviously the same person.
James Olis Winton's descendants show him to be the son of Jacob Winton and Barbara Copple which apparently means he is the same person as James R. Winton
I have found no use of the name Olis in any of James R. Winton’s ancestors—and James Olis and Sylvania’s children’s names are different too—although they may come from mom’s side.
However, Jame R. and James Olis were apparently born in the same year and James R. vanishes about the same time that James O. shows up.Are they the same person?
I’d appreciate any help someone might offer on the above.
