Hello... In answer to your question -- I thought I would pass on a couple of other messages that I found in the past on a different message board that helped to clear up some of my confusion on this subject.... George had 2 wives -- and 3 of the children belong to Mary Gilbert, the first wife:
Message #1 -- (Sorry -- I missed recording who this message was from?)
Mr. Wirick (John) was born in Champaign county, Ohio, May 10, 1846, a son of George Wirick, of Penns ylvania, in which state he was married, about 1840, to Miss Mary Gilbert, also a native of th at state, and who died early in life leaving three children: Samuel L., who is a farmer in Shelby county, Ohio, and has two sons and one daughter; John; and Mary Martha, the wife of David Doremire, of Shelby county, Ohio. The father of these children was married again and had t wo sons and three daughters. He died in 1872, past middle life, leaving but little property . He had made a trip to California in 1853, by the overland route, but was sick and met with hard luck while there.

I just learned a couple of weeks ago that my ggreatgrandmother, Amanda Taylor Wirick (wife of George Wirick), remarried Henry Swigart 6 Feb 1876 after George's death "sometime around 1871" according to George's estate papers. The estate papers were filed in 1881 by John B. Miller. I suspect he fits into the family somewhere but I don't know where. I have been unable to find Henry in the earlier census records for Shelby or Champaign counties...yet.I did find several omissions from the index for these counties so I will read each page soon looking for them.
This is all I have at this time other than Henry Swigart's death certificate which lists his place of birth as PA. Other names listed in the estate papers include: Martha (Mattie) Wirick who married David DORMEYER(?) living in Shelby County; Samuel Wirick living in Champaign County, dies 27 Aug 1921 in Shelby County, OH; John Wirick living in Nebraska; Abigail married to Nicholas HAUSNECHT (?)living in Shelby County; Florence Hausnecht also named; Emmet Wirick living in Star City, Indiana; George Wirick, age 18, living in Shelby County; Therza Ellen married to Simon Peter Jenkins living in Shelby County; and Dolly Wirick age 12.
I would be really pleased to share and compare notes and documentation on this line. I descend from Therza Ellen and Simon Peter through their son, Oliver Franklin Jenkins, my grandfather.

------------ Note -- I have no proof yet at this point, but I also agree with you that George was a brother to both John (born 1808), and Samuel (abt. 1826).In the 1850 Census for Champaign, Ohio -- George and Amanda are on the same page as John and his wife Margaret. They are also on the page preceeding Samuel & his wife Almirah, and the page following Jacob Wirick (abt. 1813) and his wife Catherine.I really wonder if these 4 men (all of whom indicated in the Census that they were born in PA):George, John, Samuel and Jacob are brothers?
