Okay. With the additional information I went back and checked thew books again. The first book was published in 1978. The second was published in 1987. At the start of the 1987 volume the author mentions he found a lot of errors and changes needed for the new volume. He didn't point out the errors. Instead he changed the format and went ahead and put all the info he had in the new one.
Using the 1987 volume I find a POSSIBLE connection. Here is what it lists.
Henry Wiswall was baptised in 1801 at Halifax, N.S. He married Elizabeth H Smith on 9 Sep 1834 at Halifax. They had three children that were listed. William Henry, Maria I and Catherine.
NOTE: The H in Elizabeth's name could be for Harris. This could be her maiden name and Smith a prior marriage. Also note that one child (Maria I) matches.
Henry married a second time, Rebecca Avery. They had four children. Only one name is known and that is Carolyn Avery Wiswall.
Henry was the son of Enoch Wiswall who was born in Halifax in 1768 to Ann Wright. They had eight children. It is worth noting that the names were the same as other Wiswells in N.S. at the time.
Enoch was the son of Enoch Wiswall who was born in Dorchester, MA in 1724. He married Elizabeth Burch and they had ten children.
This Enoch was the son of Enoch Wiswall who was born in Dorchester in 1697. He married Susanna Cook and they had eight children.
This Enoch was the son of Oliver Wiswall who was born in Dorchester in 1665. He married Sarah Baker and they had eight children.
His father was Enoch Wiswall who was born in England in 1633. He married Elizabeth Oliver and they had thirteen children.
His father was Thomas Wiswall who was Baptized in 1601 with his twin brother John at Warrington, Lancashire, England. He married Elizabeth Berbage in England in 1632. They had ten children. He married second Isabella (Muston) Farmer. They had no children.
Thomas was what we call our immigrant anscestor. He came to this country in 1635 with his wife and one son (Enoch) to join his brither John.
I hope you find this helpful. I realize that Elizabeth Ann is not listed as the daughter of the Henry I have listed above. But I really do believe that he is the right one. There seem to be too many similarities for it not to be.
Carolyn. If you want more detailed information on these people I would be glad to copy the relevent pages for you. You have my e-mail address. Let me know.
