I have a Samuel P. Witherow, b. 10 Sep 1837, Franklin County PA d. 30 July 1875, Bedford, Henderson IL, as my GG Grandfather.He is buried in the Old Section of the Glade City Cem, Blandinsville, McDonough, IL. He served in Company D 16th Illinois Infantry as a Private during the Civil War enlisting on 24 May 1861, discharged 21 May 1862. His tombstone states his name and "CW-Co D 16th IL Inf". He was married to Elizabeth S. Land in McDonough County IL recorded on 16 May 1863, license #00001989. The had four children, Ada b. 1865, Clarence b. 1867 (my G Greatgrand father), William b. 1869 and Florence Mary Clarinda b. 25 May 1875.Samuels father was Joseph Daniel Witherow b. 4 Jul 1807 Hamilton township, Franklin County PA d. 19 Mar 1886 Montgomery County IA. His grandfather was John Witherow Jr. b. 1778 Metal Township, Franklin County, PA d. after 1850 Donegal, Westmoreland, PA. He is the son of John Witherow b. 1747 Chester County PA d. 1797 Metal Township, Franklin Co PA.He is the son of William Withrow b. 21 Mar 1717 Ulster Ireland d. 6 Mar 1770 Lurgan Township, Cumberland PA. And he is the son of the patriach of this branch of the Withrow family, Robert John Withrow b. 24 June 1692 Ulster Ireland d. 14 June 1741 in Virginia. Robert John first immigrated to the "colonies' in about 1718 as best as I can determine.I hope this helps you.
