Wenger says this Jacob LANDIS was not born in Zürich but in Rohrbach, Germany. This was most likely the Rohrbach S of Sinsheim, since Jacob LANDIS came to America with the 1717 Mennonites, many of whom were from the Sinsbach area and in America settled near each other on the London Company lands just east of the later Lancaster Boro. That is, he may be the Hans Jakob LANDIS who was living in Sinsheim in 1709 with his wife Anna WITMER and the children as listed, with ages. He emigrated with his family 1717 to Lancaster County. They had left before the 1717 census of Mennonites was taken in that area. Jacob LANDIS was age 50 when he and his wife Anna WITMER arrived at Philadelphia 14 Aug 1717 with5 children, among the large group of Mennonites arriving in 3 ships. Also immigrating with Jacobwere 2 possible brothers/cousins of his: Felix LANDIS age 45 (wife Rosanna) and Hans LANDIS age 51 (unknown wife).
