In looking through our research, I found more information on Gertrude Witthauer.
MARY GERTRUDE WITTHAUER b. February 28, 1893 in Seattle, WA.She died May 4, 1956 in Denver, CO, at the age of 63 years.
Her parents were:
John George Witthauer b. April 7, 1844 in Bavaria.He died October 1904 in Denver, CO.
Her mother was Rose Elizabeth Himmighoefer b. February 1865 in Illinois and died March 1935 in Denver, CO.
Her siblings:
Philip J. Witthauer b. 1888 in Maryville, MO
Anna Rose Witthauer B. April 1892 in WA m. Hugh Krause
Mary Francis Witthauer b. May 1895 in WA m. Sneary

Also, the information regarding Gertrude's face being on a candy box during WWI was incorrect in being that of See's Candies.Apparently, the candy company was based out of Denver, CO, but I still haven't tracked down the specifics.
