I'm not sure if you check this anymore or not, however, I have a huge print-out of our family tree here that pretty much what I have to do now is try to trace back father than 1761 with the Wombachers.
Here is what I have so far:
What I've found says my info starts in somewhere called "Alenau, Gunzenbach, Germany".
Peter Wombacher (1761 - Dec 28, 1813) married Margaretha Belle on Aug 27, 1827 somewhere in Germany.They had 3 children; John Wombacher (April 5, 1794 - Mar 5, 1864), Johann Adam Wombacher (April 23, 1797 - ?) and Peter Wombacher (July 5, 1804 - ?)
Their son John Wombacher married his first wife, Catherine Hoffman (Nov 10, 1791 - Aug 27, 1827 in Germany) on May 14th, 1816 somewhere in Germany.They had 5 children;Margaretha Wombacher (Sept 6, 1817 - ?), Johann Adam Wombacher (May 11,1820 - ?), Adam and Anna Wombacher (Mar 25, 1824 - ?), and John Wombacher (Feb 22, 1827 - ?).
Marriage #2, (after Catherine's death), was to Eva Michael (born in 1809 in Bavaria, died Sept 4, 1878 in Johnson County, Iowa - is buried in St. Stanislau in Hills, Iowa). They married in 1829 and had 10 children, the first 4 where born in Germany.First 4:Peter Wombacher (Oct 7, 1828 in Gatzenburg, Rheinbeyarn - Dec 12, 1913 in St. Clair, Mascoutah, IL), Andreas (Andrew) Wombacher (Nov 22, 1831 in Bavaria - May 9, 1912 in Washington County, IA, buried at Mt. Olivet in Riverside, IA), Elizabeth Wombacher (Aug 29, 1833 in Bavaria - Oct 22, 1925 in Johnson County, IA, buried at Mt. Olivet in Riverside, IA), and Maria Anna Wombacher (May 27, 1835 - April 28, 1933 in Washington County, IA.
In 1836 They migrated from Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, MD on the Brig Ulysses and arrived there on February 25, 1837.The passanger list lists them as being from from "Gunzenbach", as farmers. It also lists their ages; John Wombacher at 40, Eva at 30, Adam at 12, Johann at 10, Peter at 4, Andrew at 3, Elizabeth at 2 and Anna at 1.("Anna" must be referring to Maria Anna since she was born in 1835, that would put here at about 1).
Born here in America were 6 more children:
Anna Wombacher (Feb 15, 1837 - June 21, 1918 in Washington County, IA - also buried at Mt. Olivet), George V. Wombacher (1838 in Washington County, IA - 1843.This shows him at only 5 yrs of age), Joseph C. Wombacher (Mar 19, 1840 in Cumbeland, MD - June 26, 1914 in Washington County, IA also buried at Mt. Olivet), John William Wombacher (1842 in Cumberland, MD - ?), George Wombacher (1844 - ?), and Sylvester Wombacher (1850 in Washington County, IA - 1933 Johnson County, IA).
I have a TON more information if you would like any of it.I have informaton on all of John's children with Catherine Hoffman and Eva Michael and their children's children.
John's son from first marriage, Johann Adam (whom they seem to refer to as "John Wombacher" - and one of the ones I think you're looking for...)He never married. He spent most of his life in the West and in old age returned to Washington to live with his niece, Louise Wombacher (daughter of his brother Adam).
I believe you had also asked about a Max Wombacher.I have that Max Wombacher married an Ella Thompson, lived in Ft. Collins, CO, and had 6 Children.Unfortunately I don't have any of their names. His parents were Joseph C. Wombacher and Elizabeth Fettweis, they had a total of 7 kids.I also have all their names and their children's children.
ok, I know I have posted a ton back to you.So look over it and let me know if you have any questions, or would like me to provide you with everything else that I have. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
