Rosa Mae 'Rose' Woodby, 95, 429 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff
City, Sullivan Co, TN, went home to be with the Lord
Sunday, March 29, 2009, in Ivy Hall Nursing Home following
an extended illness.
Born July 19, 1913, a native of Blount County, TN, she was
a daughter of the late Albert and Maude Heath Stroud. Mrs.
Woodby was a homemaker and she was a member of Bunker Hill
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, George Woodby; two daughters, Delores Woodby
and Sherry Woodby; a grandson, Matthew Woodby; and five
brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice
and John McKay, Elizabethton, TN, Georgia and Don Hickman,
Kingsport, TN, and Joan and George Ramey, Elizabethton,
TN; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Barbara
Woodby, Gray, TN, and Larry Woodby and his fiancé Wanda
Ibrahim, Elizabethton, TN; twelve grandchildren; five step-
grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eight step-
great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and
four step-great-great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Jim
Stroud, Elizabethtown, KY; and a half-sister, Jean Warren,
Alcoa, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Tuesday prior to the funeral service,
or at any of the family's residence at other times.
Funeral service for Mrs. Rosa Mae 'Rose' Woodby will be
conducted at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in the
Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr.
Ernie Depew, minister officiating. Music will be under the
direction of the Singing Crawford’s.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m.,
Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Lyons Cemetery. Active
pallbearers will be the deacons of Bunker Hill Christian
Church. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m.,
Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
