I found something today that has convinced me that Beal Wooden is the son of John Wooden and Susanna unk or Rachel Gassaway. I got a copy of the original tax list of 1783 for Baltimore Co., Md. Listed in Middle Hundred are: Stephen Wooding, John Wooding, Solomon Wooding and Beal Wooding (Beal's name is spelled Beal and all are spelled Wooding). It shows Stephen and John Wooding owning part of Parrish's Range. Solomon Wooding and Beal Wooding do not own land. They are either living on their father's land or renting land from someone else. The tax list breaks down into catagories telling what was owned ( acres, slaves, cattle, ect.) and it's value. Stephen has 1 slave and John has 2. Solomon and Beal have none. The number of Whites in each household is (I don't know if that includes the head of household) Stephen has 8 John has 5 Solomon has 3 Beal has 4
Since Beal is shown as having 2 or 3 children the date of abt 1781 for his first child is a good match.
Another section of this tax list is: Young Men's names Names of their surities
Solomon Wooding is listed in the Young Mens catagory and John Wooding is listed as his surity. (there is something written after the name of Solomon Wooding that begins with a J it may be Junior abbreviated.)
Beal is not listed there.
I believe this proves beyond a reasonable doubt, taken with all the other evidence, that Beal Wooden is the son of John Wooden. At least I am convinced of this.
