This message proves to me that I was correct about our family line of Denbo's. There has been disagreement among Denbo Cousins of who our Joseph Denbo, Sr.'s father was. Was it Elijah Denbo as stated in a will (that many say is forged), or is he the son of John Denbo and Nancy Woodfield?
I had come to the conclusion that Elijah was his father. Due to an second will found written by Elijah. I knew that there was another Joseph Denbo married in Kentucky but he married later than our Joseph.
Joseph Denbo, Sr. is said to be born:April 02, 1779. In either VA or PA. He Married:
Elizabeth Tucker in Hardin County, KY--February 15, 1801, the Hardin Co. marriage book said:
Surety: WILLIAM TUCKER. "Girl is daughter of JACOB TUCKER".
No return, unrecorded
Hardin County, Kentucky
They moved on to Harrison County, IN. (Crawford Co. later became part of what was then Harrison Co.)>
Joseph and Elizabeth had 8 children together (Joseph Denbo, Jr. is in my line). He remarried after Eliz. died and became father to 5 more children.
His 11th child was named:Woodfield Grant Denbo
Which led many to say that this is proof that he named this child after his mother's family. I think he was related to John Denbo, but he was probably his nephew.
I think that the Joseph that you mention was a cousin to Joseph. There has also been speculation that Robert was our Joseph's brother. I'm beginning to think that he was a cousin as well.
If anyone out there wants more information regarding this line, or any names, etc. let me know.
