My wife has a connection with the Woodiwiss family via her Grandmother (Keziah Roadley) She claimed that this Woodiwiss relative was responsible for building the Trent Bridge at Nottingham and that there is a plaque to that effect on the bridge - I have been unable to verify that fact. Anyone live at Nottingham ?I had a weird coincidence via my family searches for the Goodwin family in that in 1881 census an ancestor of mine (Alice Goodwin) was working as a domestic servant for Abraham Woodiwiss at 117 Osmaston Road Litchurch Derby born at Shaw Lane Derby. He was described as 67 years old a Railway Contractor Audit and Mayor of Derby!! He lived with his wife Emma aged 52 born at Holloway Derby, and 2 sons - Alfred 26 born atMatlock a contractors agent and George 24 born at Great Smisby Leicestershire.# We were always told that Abraham Woodiwiss liveed at Nottingham - you believed it was Bakewell- look at his sons - obviously in his business he moved with his work!
