Sylphina Sheldon was born in Courtright [Kortright] township, Delaware County, N. Y. October 2, 1817, was married to Bradley Woodmansee February 2, 1837, moved to Ohio and selled in LaGrange [Lorain County], October 1848, where she lived until her death which occurred April 4, 1902, aged 84 years. She was one of the pioneer settlers who helped to make the wilderness blossom like a rose, for no more industrious person ever lived. A lazy person found no favor with her. She number her friends by hundreds. Her home relations were pleasant and happy in every respect and the ties binding the family together were very strong. She leaves one son, two brothers, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many friends to mourn their loss.
