The life of Thomas Edison Woods, given to him by God, came
to a sudden and unexpected end on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
Born in Waverly, TN. on January 27, 1952, to the late
Archie D. Woods and surviving mother, Sarah A. Woods.
He lived all over East Tennessee and was a member of the
U.S. Navy. He was known by some as 'Thomas the Plummer
He leaves behind four siblings, Archie D. Woods Jr., of
Dallas, TX, Gerald Woods and Beverly Woods Sherman, of
Atlanta, GA, and Richard (Terrie) A. Woods, of Atlanta,
GA; devoted nieces and nephews, Yolanda Woods Hodge,
Roshonda Gideon, Calandra McLennon, Wendy Robisen,
Archie D. Woods III, Charlie F. Sherman III, Carsley D.
Beadles, Brad Cornwell, Shanika Woods, Kia Woods, Christy
Treece, and Demetria Blevins Woods; one aunt, uncle; and a
host of cousins.
His extended family members include, Annie Ashmeade,
Delores Williams-Bently, Latoya Williams (daughter-in-
Christ), Speedy Ashmeade, Willie Williams Jr. (sons-in-
Christ), Sharon Freeman, Barbara Jean Bragg (mother-in-
Christ), Marla Brice and Michelle Hale, Laverna Pate
(sisters-in-Christ), Steve Houson, Benny Goins, David
Mason, Eddie Davis, the Rev. Joseph T. Senter, Willard
Horton (brothers-in-Christ). He was a friend to the
friendless, a father to the fatherless. He was a prankster,
joker, he loved to make people laugh and never knew a
stranger. He will be missed dearly and truly loved by all.
A special thanks to all family members in Lexington, KY,
for their open arms of hospitality and moral support.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at
the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, 2011, at
7 p.m., at Dockery Funeral Home.
Burial will be Tuesday morning, March 29, 2011, at 11 a.m.,
at Mountain Home National Cemetery, in Johnson City, TN.
